Hello friends welcome back to a brand new episode of the upbeat dietitians podcast

    0:38

hello everyone today we are talking about a very fun topic she is

    0:44

all over the news recently and the news has in social media for us Hannah and I

    0:49

we're not watching CNN no but we are talking about Gwyneth Paltrow she has

    0:57

claimed herself as a wellness expert there have been a couple different

    1:02

I don't want to say controversies but there there are a couple it's pretty controversial yeah we'll say oh we'll

    1:07

say controversies that she has played a part in over the past five years at

    1:14

least five years um so the big ones we're going to be talking about though are her company

    1:20

goop her partnership to support intuitive fasting and her most recent podcast

    1:26

appearance which is probably what you've seen more recently on the art of being well podcast

    1:33

so lots of juicy gossip with all of these and we're going to talk about all

    1:38

of it we're going to start off with goop though because that's kind of her Big

    1:43

Brand that's how I assume she's making like most of her money right now besides

    1:49

so as I said she's an actress like she's been some Millions from the big giant movie she's in she could probably be

    1:55

very fine based off of like the act like the movies I don't know why she's doing

    2:01

more like why do more when you're okay right here but her doing more has been

    2:07

problematic so it's been a little dangerous I don't know like much about her in like Hollywood like I don't know

    2:13

if she's like a problematic actress I don't make assumptions but I am

    2:19

I've never heard anything I know the only reason I know about her because I

    2:24

like watch a lot of Marvel movies yeah and she's in the Marvel movies and like she's I like her character a lot and I I

    2:32

know the character is not the actor actress obviously but I've never heard

    2:38

anything like the rumor mill about cast members that don't get along with her

    2:43

that's what I'm saying she seems like she's not causing a lot of sheets there holds in her like

    2:50

crazy and then but like that's actually the thing with Wellness culture though is like they don't see the problem with

    2:57

it which will actually explain that she that's true like with her Wellness uh podcast interview she's like

    3:05

saw all of us dietitians like saying how bad it was and she's like no it's fine like this is just me it's what I do so

    3:12

we'll get to that but I wonder if that's part of it like she doesn't see that it's problematic yeah and the people

    3:17

around here probably aren't going to be like she's pointing it she's promoting

    3:22

dysfunctional eating habits and whatnot but they're all doing it nevertheless let's talk about goop

    3:29

right off the bat I want to know where this name came what a name it's almost as bad I'm thinking like I'm getting

    3:34

Beach Body Vibes where it's like your name is just so bad not even like gloop

    3:40

or like I think gloop is worse yeah

    3:47

it had to be very vague to cover all the different dishes that she has

    3:53

and like this might be like this is why we're I don't even think this is explicit but this is like foreshadowing

    3:59

what I don't even I'm gonna say it I'm gonna say it because we're trying to be more authentic on here and these are my

    4:06

unfiltered thoughts and it's like foreshadowing a lot of her marketing is I'm like goop reminds me of like

    4:12

discharge I'm like that's the only thing I can

    4:19

think um yeah well now that's all I can think of is to that comment I hope I ruined it for

    4:26

everyone it was already ruined but now it's definitely never getting my business not that it ever was I don't

    4:32

think it was no we're not in the tax Brack until afford this which is like no it's like like I was looking just a

    4:39

minute ago like the eye creams are like 150 bucks just like a little ounce of eye cream it's insane insane I don't

    4:46

know who's affording it no very rich that's who it is when it's Buddies

    4:51

but yeah there's different niches so we've got Beauty fashion Wellness which kind of today's Hot Topic and then food

    4:57

and home but uh when it comes to Beauty fashion and like home decor that's not

    5:03

our thing do what you wish with all of that I'm sure there's plenty of like Beauty podcasters who have hated on goop

    5:11

before so go find them let's talk about that let's get into the Wellness piece though a lot

    5:16

of thoughts on her Wellness yes Wellness uh programs and serums and supplements

    5:22

yeah yes a lot of the wellness is kind of like all over the place it's a lot of

    5:27

supplements and it's a lot of serums that's kind of like supplements and serums this is the biggest thing with

    5:34

the wellness factor and there are a lot of detox programs I didn't even like

    5:40

write down all of them because there are so many and it's like to fix your

    5:46

metabolism and to reset you and it's like a pack of like five supplements

    5:51

those times and I'm like one we already know detoxes don't work

    5:58

right if you got functioning kidneys functioning liver and lungs

    6:04

you're good you don't need to take ninety dollar pack of supplements

    6:10

so stupid detox go listen to our Detox episode and our red flags of a diet

    6:16

episode yeah like everything like on the front page of our website is

    6:21

just like screaming like red flag yes it's

    6:27

it's crazy there's so much going on as well I'm very confused by all the niches

    6:32

but lots of detox there's also a lot of

    6:39

um like anti-aging serums we've talked a little bit about

    6:44

how like aging is something that's been like villainized yeah in society and

    6:49

it's like bad to have wrinkles I actually just found a really cool Instagram account like yesterday that I

    6:55

followed all about like the anti-aging movement what if I can find it and like shout

    7:02

them out into I'm gonna hear aging

    7:08

aging body liberation [Music] so they're all about their tag in our

    7:16

show notes yeah like their last post says the only normal bodies are the varied and

    7:22

ever-changing ones there is no normal because everything's always different so anyway did you say

    7:29

anti-aging or aging aging body Liberation okay

    7:34

okay but yeah Gwyneth uh is very anti-aging even though I don't like to comment on

    7:41

looks but a lot of my comments on my post about her were like she looks like Skeletor she's aging poorly kind of like

    7:48

supporting our point of like her approach to Wallace is not working so great if her whole point is to like

    7:54

prevent aging but it is kind of silly that that's her whole thing yet

    8:01

she's not eating yes that's not going to be good for her in the long run no no

    8:08

um I did not know about this High School Jean supplement pack what the heck is that I I was a scrolling and there was

    8:16

it's another supplement pack it's literally another pack of five supplements and the description for it

    8:23

is my body is responding to diet and exercise the way it used to it's

    8:28

literally a direct quote from the website so I assume this is like

    8:33

probably geared toward maybe like weight loss or like maybe you can't eat as much

    8:39

as you used to it's women in menopause who are trying to play with the way when they were 17 years old and they can't

    8:45

anymore because they're no longer 17 years old yeah it's crazy there's it's literally

    8:53

like the marketing gets a round of applause like she knows exactly who she's speaking to and they're probably

    9:00

falling for it aside from the price point if you can't afford that then you just feel bad yes

    9:07

but that was crazy I did not know that that was a thing no

    9:15

another one that's really interesting is

    9:20

it's called why am I so effing tired it's another supplement pack another 90

    9:25

supplement pack and it's like five supplements Gwyneth you're probably tired because

    9:32

you're not eating Gwyneth you're eating 100 calories a day your body is exhausted it's working overtime yeah

    9:41

it's you are sticking yourself with an IV to supplement not eating enough your body

    9:48

is like begging you please oh my gosh I wonder what's in those that

    9:54

like it's supposed to like wake you up I didn't look into it too much I assume there's gonna be a caffeine one I'm just

    10:00

like assuming B vitamins yeah that's definitely what it is yeah definitely

    10:05

vitamins yeah I think they throw vitamin D in everything yeah yeah it's not

    10:11

regulated for sure absolutely not like the FDA is like hmm yes turning a

    10:18

blind eye to goop oh man and then

    10:25

the other part of Wellness is like there's the serums and there's the supplements and then there's this like

    10:31

weird I'm all for female empowerment I'm saying this right now we're saying it on

    10:37

recording but there's this weird marketing towards funeral empowerment

    10:43

with like discussions of sexuality and arousal and you'd think she does help

    10:49

sex toys which I'm like okay I'm brand with that yeah but there are supplements I didn't

    10:55

write them down there are supplements to help you with your sexuality and your arousal that will like help you

    11:03

I don't know like get more in tune with it another thing that could help with that is like eating enough and sleeping

    11:09

enough just gonna throw that out there yeah inside

    11:16

I don't know what's happening with her Niche she also it's definitely very specific that's true again she's like

    11:22

the marketing is great like she knows it's all over the place like you had said but she like knows what she's speaking to

    11:27

um was I gonna say oh yeah if you're struggling with like arousal and things like that first of all make sure you're

    11:33

eating enough second of all go see a doctor don't confide in Gwyneth Paltrow and goop no yeah

    11:41

like it could be a physical thing it could be a mental thing as well in that

    11:47

case you're a therapist we do not just start taking supplements or like reading

    11:53

her blog I'm sure she has a blog post about it she does oh my gosh um have you ever heard of her

    12:00

vagina scented candle I did not yes okay so the name of the candle is this smells

    12:05

like my vagina it's 75 I obviously have no idea what it smells like but it

    12:11

exists it's currently out of stock people are actually buying this yeah

    12:18

yeah so again with like all over the place like who is this for

    12:26

I think these might be people that are like in love with Hecker because what

    12:31

who would you buy like let's okay let's imagine these different people that might be purchasing this anyone in a

    12:38

relationship like a romantic relationship why would like one partner be like oh yeah I just

    12:44

bought this candle that smells like Gwyneth Paltrow's vagina like no matter the type of relationship

    12:51

that is weird right it definitely shouldn't be a gift something you buy for yourself in private and don't tell

    12:56

anybody about I feel like that's that's gotta be what it is and then I'm sure there's someone that's

    13:02

like out of but the thing is I'm thinking like maybe out of curiosity but 75 is a lot to spend on so it's like 10

    13:08

bucks maybe yeah five dollars and like does it smells different when you light

    13:13

it like you want your whole house to smell like that I feel like it's gonna be like Manila scented or something I'm

    13:19

sure it smells good yeah just like prove a point yeah and she's it's probably part of her marketing and then like the

    13:25

j-day if you use my jade eggs your vagina will smell like this

    13:31

that's that's gotta be it again she's a genius very good with the marketing

    13:36

props to her for that yeah that exists I didn't know you

    13:43

didn't know about that I didn't I knew about the like Jade egg yeah and I knew

    13:48

about these like weird supplements I did not know about this candle though that is I think it's been around for a while

    13:54

I don't know when she like launched it but it's it's an OG I mean I feel like

    14:00

to be fair a lot of celebrities could probably sell the candles that would smell like their

    14:06

genitalia and even though it's definitely doesn't like how do you even extract that smell and put it into a

    14:12

candle what's the science behind that candle leaking

    14:18

oh my God yeah this whole her whole company is like

    14:25

giving him a one babe but I don't think there's any type of like associate programs but like now all over the place

    14:31

it is and how expensive it is and how inex like inaccessible it feels

    14:38

very MLM I'm trying to think of like other celebrities who have like a similar like side hustle even though

    14:45

it's much more than a side Hustle I don't really know if anyone has this

    14:51

big like no I guess the Kardashians what's kind of their thing though they like aren't actresses and also doing

    14:56

what they do yeah because all their stuff's always overpriced too obviously yes and they

    15:03

have all kinds of like they've got what makeup skin care jeans like they're all over the map too Kendall's controversial

    15:10

oh the tequila brands yeah that's just crazy to me like I can't

    15:16

imagine I guess if you have the money and the time but like so many Brands so many Brands like keep up with and it's

    15:24

like not easy to have a brand especially if you have like an actual product yeah they just hire a lot of people oh yeah

    15:31

to do the things I'm I don't know how much work they actually do they're just the faces yeah yeah oh

    15:39

how nice when did that mean I used to have millions of dollars how nice oh

    15:45

okay great um well back to the Jade egg thing

    15:51

I I mean I've heard of this but I didn't really understand the point of it I did not realize Emily put in our notes that

    15:56

it's to cure depression yeah is that what she says yeah oh my God

    16:03

so I don't know when this happens though I didn't actually I didn't find a time stamp on it I think it's the past five

    16:10

eight years maybe I don't know time has been flying by though so it's probably more than that I know but

    16:19

they had if you're not familiar goop had this controversy where there was this

    16:24

Jade egg product that you were supposed to put up your vagina and it would cure

    16:30

depression because it claimed to balance hormones and regulate menstrual cycles

    16:37

okay I have so many questions how big is it does it stay in there how do you get

    16:42

it out do you just like put it in for a little bit and then like you sit with it I don't understand

    16:48

how big is this I don't I know the technicalities of this

    16:53

I think it's like this big oh my gosh a Yanni egg oh my gosh

    17:01

so there's like other brands that are like duping it yeah they look kind of

    17:06

I wouldn't say small okay my first concern is so smooth how do you get that

    17:12

out that's what I'm saying like it would just like get sucked up in there no wonder she got

    17:18

sued oh she has instructions on how to use it on the website it's still on the website yeah

    17:28

it is non-refundable I would sure hope so

    17:34

okay I got the dimensions it is 1.57 inches long and 1.18 inches wide

    17:43

okay so Thomas okay eggs are pre-drilled for string add-on you have to add your own string we recommend using unwaxed

    17:51

dental floss it won't even pay for your string no but they do recommend using it so that answers that question that I had

    17:59

sixty six dollars oh my gosh

    18:05

    that's hilarious oh my gosh

    18:11

yeah I feel like you sound like a bird hold on these these instructions so you

    18:16

wash the egg you place it in hot water for 10 minutes you let it cool you stick the egg up your vagina like you would

    18:22

with a tampon quote then the slightly larger side of the eggs goes in first

    18:28

work your pelvic floor quote feel the connection with your body by squeezing

    18:34

    and releasing the egg

    18:40

as you might begin with a 10 to 15 minute session build up a practice if it

    18:45

brings joy and well-being to you until next time clean your egg after use

    18:51

keep it in or on a space that is sacred to you or has good vibes

    19:00

keep your vagina egg in a place that has good vibes that is that is key to this

    19:06

mental depression being cured by this egg if it if you store your egg in a place of bad vibes you will still have

    19:12

depression what we're like chickens we're like

    19:20

chickens in fact you're paying like that was six

    19:25

    that was a 60 one I found 66 but there's also a 55 one I think the the road

    19:30

there's a rose quartz egg oh my God probably different Vibes I assume I don't know how efficient it is compared

    19:39

to the Jade one maybe it's more for like PTSD than depression maybe it's a different mental health disorder you get

    19:45

cured if you use that one different stones for different mental health issues

    19:52

but they were fined 145 000 in civil penalties over those eggs

    20:00

and little and goop didn't even like they settled I thought they like lost

    20:05

which made 145 000 they probably pay more than that if they lost

    20:11

the lawsuit yeah but goop literally quoted they believed

    20:16

their beliefs this is there is an honest disagreement about these claims the

    20:21

claims that like no it does not balance your hormones and no it does not cure depression oh my

    20:29

gosh it's what was she doing like what was where

    20:38

do you like there's obviously no science to back this up so like where do you think of this stuff like that just like comes to you and you're in a dream

    20:46

like everything that we always talk about like we like learned it from somewhere else and now we're just like

    20:52

portraying it in our own way to other people like when it comes to like intuitive eating and like food science and like all of that but

    21:00

come on there is no randomized control trial about Jade eggs that should have

    21:05

learned this from no like she just like made this up yeah or someone did maybe it was her friend

    21:11

will Cole who we'll get to I wouldn't be surprised

    21:17

um I didn't know where to add this but I put it here speaking of that part of the body

    21:25

um I saw this on Instagram too and then I looked it up she claims to participate in what's known as a rectal ozone

    21:31

therapy what does that mean I don't know what that is I was gonna look into it but honestly I

    21:37

didn't really want to know I didn't need to see pictures or anything

    21:42

yeah did she stick something up her butt then I don't know like what even is like

    21:48

what's what's ozone like how do you use access to like ozone

    21:54

I'm thinking she's going up in a plane into like the ozone like just like

    21:59

    collecting samples I don't know I don't know

    22:05

I don't even know the benefits of it like oh then brought his gator again what do you even get from

    22:12

like putting ozone near your rectum

    22:18

probably detoxes it somehow maybe it'll cure anxiety oh yeah

    22:25

yeah oh my gosh well let's talk about Mr Cole yeah

    22:31

should I say Dr Cole if he deserves that title so a few years ago we mentioned it

    22:37

previously like on like our tick tocks and stuff um about intuitive fasting

    22:43

well I have a lot of thoughts on this so our girl GP partnered with Dr Wilco

    22:50

right they work together on this like it was like a collaboration between the two of them basically

    22:56

wait you saying that just made me think of something her initials are GP goop

    23:04

and it starts with the G and ends with a p do you think the O's are they boobs

    23:09

are they ozone maybe that's how she's like I wanted to

    23:15

include my initials and she just had to make a word out of

    23:20

it what's her middle name ooh oh hey sorry you keep going about willful I'm gonna find this find out her

    23:28

middle name right now okay okay so Dr willcole who's also the person that interviewed her in that famous recent

    23:34

interview he is a chiropractor no surprise there we have a lot of thoughts on chiropractors he's also a functional

    23:40

medicine practitioner which uh we have kind of a love hate relationship

    23:46

there too our friend will Cole along with the intuitive fasting book he also has his

    23:52

own books one of them is called ketotarian barf

    23:58

one is called the inflammation Spectrum which we all know that is just telling you to like cut out foods that bring you

    24:04

Joy and just eat plants which I'm sure in the ketotarian book says the opposite

    24:09

like don't eat too many people say that and then his most recent one is called gut feelings but my favorite part is the

    24:16

tagline where it says healing the shame fueled relationship between what you eat and how you feel

    24:23

like the shame that we are feeling because of our food choices is likely related to the things that you're

    24:29

talking about like you're in the brow machine on us sir so they're causing a problem and then

    24:36

claiming to help you fix it yeah classic well and I like how it's gut feeling so it's probably gut health specific but

    24:43

I'm like gut health and your relationship with food are two very different things like why are we putting

    24:49

that in the same sentence again like the marketing like they know like people are going to be so into the really very good

    24:55

at marketing yes and like intuitive fasting same thing like people hear intuitive eating and

    25:03

it gets a lot of hate from those who don't understand it and so what they're doing is kind of spinning it in a diet

    25:10

culture way that feels like it is more healthy to do this intuitive fasting than like true intuitive eating yeah

    25:16

because intuitive eating is just eating donuts and pizza all the time according to yes that's everything you understand

    25:21

it we just eat candy and pizza and donuts and ice cream we don't eat

    25:28

vegetables we don't drink water diet sodas running through our veins

    25:36

yeah mine probably is actually but also water is too yes

    25:42

but of course one of the top testimonials for this intuitive eating

    25:47

but not well sorry sorry I'm getting the second phrases getting thrown around

    25:55

I don't know please set student fasting sorry jumping back one intuitive nesting

    26:00

apparently the purpose of this book is it's a flexible four-week intermittent fasting plan to recharge your metabolism

    26:06

and renew your health so once again a lot of buzzwords in there allow Wellness Buzz net words and they're like jumping

    26:15

on the they're hijacking intuitive eating to their own spin-off and of course one of the top testimonials is

    26:21

off from our friend slash not friend Mark I'm in it and what we're

    26:31

gonna do an episode on him we've talked about him a lot yeah but we're doing more like celebrity reviews and he would

    26:38

be a very good one to discuss I just want to talk about him maybe that's what he wants and we're just giving in to

    26:44

what do you think I know you know what he's all over the damage is done already so we may as well

    26:50

discuss what he's done Mark is the I've never called by his first name I've

    26:55

always said Mark Hyman Mark is the founder of the Pagan diet which is

    27:01

basically just paleo yeah and he's big on quote-unquote food as medicine it's

    27:08

    another functional medicine practitioner chiropractor

    27:15

yeah so of course he's endorsing this you know it's not great but one of their

    27:22

claims for this intuitive fasting book program whatever you want to call it is

    27:27

you'll get in touch with your instinct instinctive eating patterns and become healthier and more mindful about how and

    27:33

when you eat there is nothing intuitive about like not eating for 18 hours at a time

    27:39

no no it's probably like anti-intuitive or you're ignoring right

    27:46

your body's cues nothing mindful about that either and I'm sure it says like what you have

    27:52

to eat too oh yeah now only when but you have to eat this probably

    27:58

anti-inflammatory Pagan keto like cross yeah I was reading the reviews and it

    28:05

was like very straightforward and very helpful and telling me exactly what to eat

    28:11

yep okay there it is exactly that uh it also claims that intuitive fasting

    28:18

will show you how to find to finally find metabolic flexibility I don't even

    28:24

know what that means do you want your metabolism to be flexible

    28:30

is it like doing cartwheels and like some yoga or like keeping it on

    28:36

I can't think of words keeping it on on its toes it's kind of like in the fitness world

    28:42

like muscle confusion like doing just ridiculous random workouts like keep your muscles confused that's not a thing

    28:48

like your muscles are gonna be okay if you like do things that it's expecting

    28:54

and like it's used to and your metabolism also prefers that too yeah like you don't want your metabolism to

    28:59

just be like all over the board no so dumb

    29:05

uh it's so it and this is just like an example of

    29:12

like Diet culture and a wellness hijacking intuitive eating and non-dye

    29:18

language like with the mindfulness and extinctive eating patterns and like

    29:23

going back to like the gut feelings the like yeah addressing those feelings is shame the marketing is very good they

    29:30

know what people are talking about and

    29:35

they're just Monopoly like monetizing that yeah

    29:41

twisting it so it's Unique to them and like if you're a consumer who

    29:46

doesn't know much about like actual intuitive eating you might see this and think they are the same thing and that

    29:52

just puts a Bad spin on like the actual intuitive eating we call it a movement I don't know intuitive eating movement I

    29:58

guess we'll say yeah and it just confuses it to those makes it more confusing for those who

    30:05

don't know it in such detail like we do no

    30:10

ER so intermittents or intuitive fasting

    30:15

two thumbs down it is not Ted approved and no no no no we need to sting we need a

    30:22

sting like a sound we play whenever we say like something that's not approved by us

    30:34

like get us in the mood for the episode and then we like Jump Right In and then we have like before we get into our

    30:41

bonus question we have like a little like some staying there like a little jingle

    30:48

thing outro music if anyone would like to work

    30:54

with us or I don't know how much maybe a lot for

    31:00

you but or even a sample we would take let

    31:06

us know because that would be so funny we'd love a jingle yes

    31:11

we love a jingle okay let's talk about the the podcast interview yes when

    31:17

you're listening to this it may have been a uh I don't know this comes out it may as I can't talk either it's been a

    31:23

while since the actual interview kind of like went viral but I'm sure you're all still dying to hear our

    31:29

thoughts on it a few weeks later but if you missed it it's an interview with

    31:34

our girl Gwyneth and that Dr will Cole who apparently they're kind of buddies like it's not like just like a

    31:39

professional relationship yeah and Gwyneth gets all in detail

    31:46

about her Wellness routine and this is a trigger warning for

    31:52

if like hearing about like disorder eating dysfunctional eating habits potentially need a disorder might

    31:58

trigger you I would skip ahead maybe like five minutes or so five minutes please we'll be talking about it way

    32:05

longer than that I know I mean we skip a little bit longer than that but her typical daily routine that she

    32:14

can stuff and like what she quotes is she doesn't want she starts off her morning with coffee because she doesn't

    32:20

want to spike her blood sugar because God forbid we eat food and our blood

    32:25

sugar levels go up that provides us with energy but anyway

    32:30

she drinks her coffee and then she will Fast until 12 p.m and then for lunch she

    32:37

has soup but more recently she's been having bone broth

    32:42

and then she'll incorporate an hour of movement which I think she said like

    32:48

Pilates or yoga or stretching and then for dinner she'll eat more

    32:54

paleo and she quoted lots of vegetables because quote it's important for me to

    33:03

support my detox what is she detoxing

    33:10

right well that she probably actually does this is a joke I'm gonna clarify that she probably does need to detox

    33:16

because her organs are probably like turning into raisins from not eating enough so she doesn't need detox because

    33:24

she's starving yeah that was a joke don't detox 290 talks this sounds miserable yeah I would

    33:32

be I've already eaten more than that at 9 00 a.m this morning like that that's nothing no

    33:41

no wonder she needs hers her supplement pack yeah to keep her energized well

    33:47

enter IV that she had oh in her other part yes oh my oh my gosh the whole time

    33:54

her and Dr Kohler just giggling about their IVs that they just have to have to

    33:59

get their vitamins and minerals and they make them feel so good they say she was like hooked up to an IV during

    34:06

the podcast that's crazy like imagine us just

    34:12

who podcast like beeping thing behind me like just pumping me full of some vitamin D yeah and she talks about like

    34:20

the different types of IVs she prefers and I'm like

    34:26

what what where are you getting access to this that's what I'm wondering because that's

    34:31

got to be a doctor order right you can't just buy IVs and the machine

    34:39

but she's talking about how they are hard to find which I'm like yes going to IVs are hard to find because they

    34:46

typically keep these in like hospitals and long-term care facilities and maybe

    34:52

urgent care where people who are not able to take in nutrition by mouth

    34:58

or get extra like electrolytes fluids

    35:04

you rely on these IVs to keep them alive of course they're hard to find because

    35:11

they are not meant for people like you able-bodied and yes you're able to get

    35:17

    food in yes I

    35:25

I'm just I was just blown away I was like where have we come okay

    35:32

how did we get here I I've made a whole list on our outline

    35:38

about like all the comments that I got like supporting her like making us feel like we're in the

    35:46

wrong for calling out this stuff like I want to read them off I have like a few that were noteworthy first of all

    35:52

actually because of all this like pushback Gwyneth like was quoted to like

    35:57

say this was a transparent look at a conversation between me and my doctors it's not meant to be advice for anybody

    36:04

else it's just really what has worked for me okay we'll get to the problems with that

    36:09

in a second but I got like similar comments kind of supporting like that whole mindset

    36:15

um a lot of them are kind of the same it's like what's wrong with how she eats this one said this country is filled with

    36:21

Overeaters fasting is healthy I mean fasting is healthy paleo is healthy everyone is so

    36:28

brainwashed into thinking they will die if they fast yeah if you starve yourself you might

    36:33

die you might die not only from like physical and like like malnutrition but

    36:39

also like mentally people die of Eating Disorders all the time yes another person said what's wrong with this

    36:45

sounds pretty healthy sounds good to me what's the problem this last one said I don't understand

    36:51

why people are so mad about this interview she never said that you guys have to fast and drink bone broth for lunch can we just let adults do what

    36:58

they want with their bodies okay I agree with that last part like do

    37:03

what you want but if you are Gwyneth Paltrow doing this interview that's obviously

    37:09

marketing for your business because you endorse things that support the things that you sell

    37:17

it's not just about like a full day of eating haha even though those are problematic in their own way too

    37:23

sometimes like it's it's more than that like you're a celebrity with a giant platform

    37:29

and a company that benefits from you showing this way of eating yeah or lack

    37:34

thereof and when you promote yourself as a wellness expert people are going to

    37:40

whether we like it or not people are going to look to you for advice right

    37:47

so it's not you just like sharing it's not like like a Vogue magazine interview

    37:52

like the like any questions where it's like let's learn about you and like maybe she rattles off what her favorite

    37:58

snack is and it's an IV or something like that but you're like going through

    38:05

this podcast with this person you previously partnered up with professionally who you have advocated

    38:10

for their book that like promotes a certain eating pattern and you are

    38:19

advocating for that with like your fasting behaviors like people are it's marketing

    38:25

she knew what she was doing it's marketing yeah it's not as simple as just I eat this how fun yeah like your

    38:31

Ben your business profits from her her business profits from her doing this yeah

    38:39

and she also didn't make any disclaimers saying like speak with your doctor first or

    38:45

dietitian which she absolutely has no idea what a dietitian is no before doing this like

    38:51

there were no disclaimers there was no claims of like scientific evidence it was just

    38:57

I eat like this it supports me my business is the same way if you eat like me you'll look like me

    39:04

every other Wellness culture cliche out there you could easily throw that in one

    39:09

sentence one sentence this is not medical advice we include that all the time this is not

    39:17

medical advice please consult your doctor or dietitian it was a mess luckily a lot of people on Tick Tock

    39:24

were calling her out on it and a lot of people and even like non-dieticians were

    39:29

calling her out on it which is the comments were actually surprisingly not terrible yeah

    39:35

and I was I was like oh my gosh I mean they were terrible from her point of view probably but yes from what we

    39:41

believe in they were supportive of what we think Yes sounds good we got some

    39:47

critical thinkers finally we love that finally

    39:53

so all in all she's had quite a bit of controversies

    39:58

up her hand I wouldn't Market I would now available here as a wellness expert despite her claiming to be one

    40:06

um make sure that you consult your health care provider before

    40:12

maybe doing something drastic like any of these practices she's promoted

    40:17

the last thing I noted this isn't a controversy I just found it out it's her

    40:23

kid's name is Apple okay oh you've been hating on her this whole time but I kind of love that I kind of like I don't want

    40:30

to like it because I don't love her but I also love

    40:38

anything named food um this is not our bonus question because our bonus question is now

    40:45

    40:58

would name your child if you had to pick a fruit I think I would go like

    41:03

mango oh oh that's good kind of like Margot but mango Oh shoot that's a good

    41:09

one I can't top that um how bad is blueberry

    41:17

pink home blue for short oh thank you it could be blue middle name Berry

    41:23

Barry's a name blueberry Thompson that's adorable oh

    41:30

I'm not having kids next dog I can have my next dog blueberry Thompson

    41:35

actually so cute oh blue you could get like a gray dog and like gosh

    41:42

    blueberry Thompson I love that

    41:49

then go crazy okay when you get a dog please name it mango I'll get a

    41:54

blueberry and I could just be the best of friends yeah yeah and then Finn will be there

    41:59

Phineas Marlin blueberry my little family I'm

    42:05

    getting emotional hey guys

    42:10

we're going back to her kid's name is she allowed to eat apples on her diet

    42:16

that's what I was thinking I was like does this follow her intuitive eating

    42:21

Ivy ridden paleo diet if she's doing the ketotarian thing like Dr Cole recommends

    42:28

apples are definitely not Keto no you'll definitely how would her how is

    42:34

her kid doing can we do like a umbrella Apple Martin how you doing let us know

    42:40

yeah also her middle name is Kate it's not something with an O not ooh but I still

    42:47

like to think the Ooze could be

    42:52

something she threw in there because she wanted her initials yeah or it's just

    42:57

boobs that's what it's all about like women and everything yeah I wouldn't be surprised yeah like a clever little

    43:04

thing she giggled at giggle I don't see her as a giggler

    43:10

I feel like she's always very serious and angry because she's starving I feel like she has that like dead look in her

    43:18

eyes and then but like a like a not very enthusiastic smile and stares at you yeah

    43:24

    it's like nods yeah so
